KUALA LUMPUR TOWER

Kuala Lumpur Tower (also well known as Menara Kuala Lumpur or KL Tower) was completely build in 1995 and located nearby KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers). It is second tallest freestanding tower in the world which used for communication which featured with 421 m (1,381 ft) antenna.

Other than for communication purpose, it also acts as the Islamic falak observatory to look for the crescent moon to mark the beginning of celebrating Muslim month: Ramadhan (fasting month), Syawal (Hari Raya Aidilfitri), and Zulhijjah (Hari Raya Aidil Adha).

There are some evolving restaurant which is providing diners a panoramic view of the city at the below tower. As a yearly event, there is a races organised for participants to race up the stairs to the top. 

This Tower was 3-phase process of construction which began on 4th October 1991.

3 phases of construction:

1. Widening of Jalan Bukit Nanas and the excavation of soil from the construction site.
2. Construction of the foundation and basement of the tower which use approximately 50,000 cubic meters of       concrete, continuously poured for 31 hours (A record in the Malaysian construction industry).
3. Construction of the 'superstructure'.

Design on KL tower

It was adorned with designs that reflect the Malaysian Islamic culture. The main lobby of the upper ground floor of this tower was decorated with exquisite glass-clad domes which sparkle like giant diamonds and was arranged in the form of the Muqarnas by Iranian craftsmen from Isfahan.
